Abstract paintings in oil and mixed media on paper and board. Layers of paint are scraped back, drawn on, scratched and dissolved to reveal hidden textures, shapes and colour combinations.
Jon uses acrylic paints, charcoal, pencil, pastel, pigment powder, oil sticks, oil paints and wax. He paints on paper or board. Paint is mixed with sand, thickened with wax or thinned with solvent, applied in layers with silicone tools, palette knives and rollers then scraped, scratched and drawn on to reveal textures, layers and colour combinations. Jon works intuitively and spontaneously. He is inspired by the materials and the process of creating, he enjoys the unexpected and experimenting with technique.
