We have stitchers, painters, printers, metal workers, jewellers and more ceramicists than you can throw a pot at! All of them are welcoming in visitors and sharing their knowledge and skills over a cup of tea and cake. Work on display will be for sale – prices to suit all purses and work to suit all tastes.
There are 19 artists taking part in PAOS this year, grouped in 9 venues
Venues 1&2: Follow signs from the crossroads in Fangfoss - the Pottery is on the left and the Rocking Horse Studio is on the right . Go through the Rocking Horse Shop yard and the studio is at the far end.
Venue 3: In main street (phone box on right) go round double bend, take 2nd track on left
Venue 4: From Fangfoss, L to Main St, L over beck, R to Beckside, L to Willow Park Rd, L to Woldview Rd. From Pocklington R, from York 2nd L into village, fork R immediately, 1st R, 1st L. Park on road
Venue5: Off A1079 to Newton upon Derwent, follow road into village and bear left. House is on left, shortly after the Half Moon pub
Venue 6: Into village, past pub on left, bear right at small fork, 1st house on left. Park on driveway
Venue 7: At the junction of Breckstreet Lane, North End and Mill Lane. Park on driveway
Venue 8: In Hayton, turn off A1079 towards Nunburnholme and Burnby. Opposite St Martin’s Church, pull into yard
Venue 9: In Londesborough, follow the signs past the Church on the right. Turn right at the white fence
All of the artists will be present throughout the weekend, to answer questions about their work, and to demonstrate to visitors some of the techniques they use.

There are number of pubs, cafes & restaurants available in Pocklington,
& there are pubs in Wilberfoss, Fangfoss & Ellerton, where you can find lunch.
You can purchase pieces of work, commission something special, or perhaps sign up for a class or workshop to develop your own artistic skills - or simply have a day out admiring the talent and diversity on offer.
Celebrating Craft & Design Month 2017, nineteen artists in the Pocklington area in the East Riding of Yorkshire will open their studio doors to welcome visitors. Come and see the finished work, and watch the artists creating original pieces using a variety of methods and media.
On 6th and 7th May, 19 artists will be showing off their creative talents, inviting visitors to come and view their work and chat about working methods and inspiration. This special Open Studios is a bijoux event – small enough to get around in a day – especially with our handy trail map – yet packed with innovative and creative art/craft.
Refreshments will be served at many of the venues.
The circular route is designed so that you can visit all the venues in one day.
We celebrated with Hull on 1st Jan watching the fireworks and we’re excited to visit the events occurring in the UK Capital of Culture this year. We are also proud to be adding to the rich culture of Hull and East Riding with or own Open Studios event in the Pocklington Area.
